Ideology

Ideology is a system of ideas, beliefs and values that precipitate specific people's actions. For example a broad range of Media texts involve certain ideologies to appeal to their audiences e.g Newspapers, Music, Films. Ideologies influence certain music genres also. Genres such as R'n'B could reflect a more mainstream ideology, as opposed to genres like heavy metal which are more influenced by a perhaps "rebellious" ideology.
My magazine's ideology falls generally into the category of indie/classic rock because this is the genre of music I enjoy and understand. This particular genre does not fall under what one might describe as "mainstream", which I admire.
In relation to my school (Deyes High School), the general ideology behind the "Charter of Values" is one of an accepting and almost harmonious community within the institution. I came to this realisation because I studied the "Charter of Values'" use of language. Terms like "a forgiving attitude", "value and respect all people", "honesty and enthusiasm" etc project a positively reinforced image of good values within the school community.
